GDA’s Key Club: Empowering Students to Serve and Lead
Key Club is a renowned organization that empowers students in grades 9-12 to serve, build character, and cultivate leadership skills. Through partnerships with local Kiwanis clubs and volunteerism, students around the world are learning how to make a positive impact on their schools and communities.
At Gloria Deo Academy, students can gain access to the benefits of Key Club, including earning scholarships. GDA’s mission and values align seamlessly with Key Club’s purpose, which is to impact the community through service and volunteerism.
GDA Key Club Impact
Through Key Club, GDA students have coordinated impressive service opportunities, such as coordinating a park clean-up day, hosting a Read-A-Thon, and donating to families in need during the holidays. Additionally, GDA graduate Chloe Smith received a $2,000 scholarship from a local Kiwanis Club in honor of Carl E Lippleman.
“Some of the activities we do are writing letters to people in nursing homes and making blankets. Some of the events we take part in are helping organizations like Crosslines and Convoy of Hope and doing trash pickups.” – Emma Diehl
“I say this all the time, but I LOVE our school. The Gloria Deo Academy Key Club partnered with Generate Generosity to provide needed items to families in our area for the holidays. Some sweet treats and cards were delivered to City of Springfield, Missouri Police Department during the Thanksgiving break as a thank you for all they do to keep our families safe and the sacrifice they make to work weekends and holidays. The Key Club members also spent time cutting and tying fun fleece blankets as well as securing donations to purchase gifts for families that will be spending time at the Ronald McDonald House Charities this holiday season. It is so fun to get to be a part this.” — Mrs. Hay
