Dear GDA families,

What a crazy year we have had at GDA with a new building and COVID.  Now more than ever we need to seek the face of the Lord and listen for His voice to guide us.

For the past four years, we have had a focused time of prayer and fasting for 21 days.  January is the beginning of a new year and we want to dedicate 2021 to Him.  Please join us in fasting and praying for our GDA families, our school and the community of Springfield as well as the surrounding communities from January 3rd through the 23th.  Each day we will send out an email with a prayer focus for the day.  This is quickly becoming a favorite time of year as we seek the Lord’s face, guidance and direction.

Yes, we are asking for miracles to happen but more importantly, we desire a deeper relationship with the Lord.  Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”  On the daily prayer focus, we did not include anything COVID related, as we are assuming this is already part of your prayers.   Included are types of fasts that you may choose to include in your time of fasting and prayer.  Thank you for joining us in pursuing all that the Lord has for your family, and for Gloria Deo Academy.

Blessings,

GDA Administrators

Types of Fasts

Complete Fast

In this type of fast, you drink only liquids, typically water with light juices as an option.

Selective Fast

This type of fast involves removing certain elements from your diet. One example of a selective fast is the Daniel Fast, during which you remove meat, sweets, and bread from your diet and consume water and juice for fluids and fruits and vegetables for food.

Partial Fast

This fast is sometimes called the “Jewish Fast” and involves abstaining from eating any type of food in the morning and afternoon. This can either correlate to specific times of the day, such as 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, or from sunup to sundown.

Soul Fast

This fast is a great option if you do not have much experience fasting food, have health issues that prevent you from fasting food, or if you wish to refocus certain areas of your life that are out of balance. For example, you might choose to stop using social media or watching television for the duration of the fast and then carefully bring that element back into your life in healthy doses at the conclusion of the fast.
